Papastratos Startup Greece Awards2016 Award Ceremony
The Award of Best New Greek Innovative Enterprise in the field of Processing- Agricultural and food Industry won the Company PANAGOTA BROS. General Partnership- Isostevia.
In a day full of fresh ideas, interesting meetings and the active attendance of the Greek startup ecosystem as well as the business- system, the evaluation procedure and the Award Ceremony of Papastratos Startup Greece Awards 2016, which was organized by the Company Boussias Communications, was completed on March 22nd in Gazarte.
The day was devoted to designation and support of New Greek innovative enterprises and it has been designed in order to comprise a complete interactive platform between shortlisted startup companies and eminent personalities of the business-system, investors and academics of our country.
Isostevia, a new company, which is active in stevia product production, impressed the Evaluation Committee by the way it has developed, by the innovation that is promoted in the field of healthy diet and the sustainability also, that has been proved by the financial model.
All began on February 2013. The first Greek startup company that is exclusively active in the field of stevia as well as the products that can be produced by it, is a fact. Two brothers from Livadeia, Antonis and Giannis Panagotas, Mechanical Engineer and Mathematician, respectively, decide to engage with a highly developing food field, and as a result they establish the company isostevia. The justification of this effort is the creation of the sweetener stevia with zero calories and zero glycemic load, which starts the difficult journey in a Greek Market, that is suffering by the financial crisis. Furthermore, the company creates chocolates with stevia, chocolate beverage with stevia and liquid stevia in easy to use small bottles. Equipped with the incredible taste, but also the excellent quality of the products, the company conquers very soon a huge part of the market. The company and its designing team, do reserve more surprises for the future with only one purpose, the production of sugar free products, with very good taste yet. Purpose, is the even bigger market penetration in Greece and the stevia establishment in the consumer consciousness as the tasteful and healthy sugar substitute.
After three years of hard work isostevia has been awarded as the best startup enterprise for the year 2016 in the field of Processing- Agricultural and Food Industry in a night where fresh ideas and entrepreneurship had the first word.
Like the Chairman of the Award Evaluation Committee, Prof. Georgios Doukidis, noted:
”the competition provided significant support to new innovative enterprises that have the opportunity to turn into high influence companies”. At the competition more than 100 candidacies were submitted with the support of 10 big Institutions and the active attendance of almost 30 experts who understand the ecosystem of the new entrepreneurship. 15 startup companies were awarded, mainly due to their sustainability, their clear industrial model, their innovations and their expandability. This proves that we are talking about an Institution that will assist and play a role in facilitation of new and innovative entrepreneurship in the country”.
The awards were supported by the European Committee- Representatives in Greece, the City of Athens and the Network of Entrepreneurship of the City of Athens, the Venture Capital Fund-ÔÁÍÅÏ S.A., the Department of Entrepreneurship Development /Hellenic Federation of Enterprises (“SEV”)and the EkinisiLAB, the Workshop of Electronic Commerce &Business-ELTRUN of the Economic University of Athens, the Innovation &Entrepreneurship Unit of the Greek National Technical University (“Ethnicon Metsovion Polytechnion”), the Informatics & Communication Industry Association -SEPE, the ALBA Graduate Business School at The American College of Greece and the International Hellenic University.
